Questions this interviewer is likely to ask, with a tip for each. Practise out loud: it really helps.
Keep it under two minutes. Focus on your technical background, years of experience with heavy/light vehicles, and any specific achievements in reducing vehicle downtime or improving workshop efficiency.
Explain your process for creating and tracking maintenance schedules. Mention how you prioritize urgent repairs versus routine checks and how you monitor vehicle health to prevent breakdowns before they happen.
Give a specific example of a vehicle that kept breaking down. Explain how you identified the underlying issue (not just the symptom) and what corrective action you took to stop it from happening again.
Discuss your method for tracking stock levels, setting minimum/maximum thresholds for critical parts, and how you coordinate with suppliers to avoid delays in repairs due to missing components.
Use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result). Focus on how you stayed calm, coordinated with the team to find a quick fix or alternative transport, and what you learned to prevent similar issues in the future.
Connect your personal values to WFP’s mission of saving lives. Mention that you want to apply your technical skills to support humanitarian aid in South Sudan and that you are committed to WFP’s values of integrity and collaboration.
